waking up on the right side of the bed..

We started the day off right today!! Cup of coffee and a shower before the kids were up, a good breakfast.....
and a box fort!!
There is nothing more fun than a box!!

a third child

We have a new nephew!!
Baby Fischer was born on January 31st!!
Now, would you think a girl who has babies that are a year and 5 days apart (or 371 days apart...it was a leap year) would get baby fever??
Well....you're wrong! There is just something about a brand new baby -- the smell, their little movements, ugh...I just can't help myself!! When Pat and I were visiting Fischer, Auntie Adele, and JJ at the hospital I was holding the baby saying, "But he just smells so good!" and then Pat said "and then they smell like spit up..." and then I said "but he is so sweet and tiny" and Patrick said "then they grow up to be like Hudson..." all very valid points.

So don't you worry...the 3rd child in this family is pictured below:
My meyer lemon tree.

I bought him last year. Then he became infested with white flies end of summer/beginning of fall last year. Apparently they leave sticky stuff on the leaves, then mold grows - blocking the sunlight from the tree. The silly tree only cost $30ish dollars. I was just going to let him go...
until I saw THIS:

How could you just let him die off? He was trying so hard to stay alive, little buds showing up and everything!! So I took my leaves to the local nursery - got the run down on how to try to save his life - and then stood outside scraping each stinkin' leaf with my fingers - removing allll of the mold.

After a few sprays of some solution they gave me, I said a little prayer for my tree and am hopeful that this year I will see some lemons :)

 Happy (late) Mardi Gras!!!

Oh sophie mophie...

And here is our little tumbleweed :)
Her room is coming together!! One room down, one more to go!

enjoying the weekends

We went to Oatland Island Wildlife Center last weekend. It was Hudson's first time visiting all of the different animals we see in his books!

He still had a little energy left when we came home so Hudson and Daddy played some basketball.

Mamo and Dadadee came to see us!!!!
Thankfully one of the days they were here was warm enough to have a picnic in Forsyth Park. Emma Kate played with my Mom while Hudson played soccer, climbed trees and tackled Dadadee!

WHAT!?!?!!
I am how old!?!
honestly, this was the best picture of the choices...
...aaaand it's hilarious.

We are missing my parents already :(

Some time around four years ago Patrick and I were sitting on this beach....

newly married...relaxing...enjoying the beautiful scenery.

BAM.
flash forward.

hmmm......
lets zoom out a little

aaand a little more

The step stool.
Such a small little piece of plastic.
Who would've known it could lead to such a mess??
Happy 18 month's Hudson!
You are keeping Mommy and Daddy on our toes

I should've known he had figured it all out. This was a week or so ago. A chair being slid across floors all the way into the kitchen isn't quite as sneaky as carrying a stool - very clever.

Our almost 6 month old baby girl is trying her hardest to sit up all alone!
I think she is saying "what?! you mean to tell me daddy is NOT holding onto me!?"

...and a little bit of devastation after falling over a few too many times.

Our sweet boy got his first hair cut. I thought I was possibly not going to survive it. We are all still alive and well..and his hair is still curling - phew.

I don't know what left over toilet paper rolls are used for in your house - but around here they turn you into a super hero.

just wanna squish those cheeks

I am realizing this baby is different than Hudson in many ways.  For instance, he does not play himself to sleep. Ever. He will hang in there as long as possible. Emma Kate will be squealing and having the best time - then boom. Out. Right this very minute she is passed out on the floor holding a toy in her hands...

Callie came to see us!
We had such a fun time. Believe it or not we ventured out of the house quite a lot this visit! Patrick's soccer game on Saturday, Callie and I had a day without kids on Sunday, and Monday we enjoyed the beautiful day in Forsyth Park.

I don't think Pat and I would've guessed that 4 years later we would be here! But it's a wonderful place to be :)
