sunny january

There are definitely many perks to living in Savannah - and sunny afternoons like we have had this past week is for sure one of them. Hudson and his BFF Eloise have had daily play dates in the backyard. Usually EK joins us, but yesterday she was taking a much needed nap.

This is our neighbor dog, Chloe. She some how escapes her yard at times and finds her way to our house. Over the summer I would see her at the back door, begging to come inside to cool off. A few times we walked her back home after giving her water and treats (oops! but I couldn't resist!). Hudson finally discovered she is through the "woods" in our backyard and juuust on the other side of that fence. He had his arm through the fence, first making 'meow' sounds - when I let him know Chloe was in fact a dog...a small dog...(unlike sister Eloise) he started saying "ah! ah!" (barking, of course...). Chloe was unsure and stood far enough away to examine him, but not close enough for him to touch her. It took a while to get him away!

face lift

Please excuse my cluttered, toy filled home. We (well really Hudson) like it that way.
And no, this first picture is NOT my house. I mean, it is, but this is before we moved in.
Frightening, I know. I get the same anxiety when I look at it.
When we moved into our home, the troops came in and dewallpapered, painted, scrubbed, painted some more, dewallpapered, painted...you get the idea.
It was so helpful.
Then we had the leak, renovated the kitchen, put new floors, and painters repainted over all of our hardwork (well really 'their' hardwork ...I was overly pregnant at the time)

Here we go.

Previous owners
we called this our 'awkward room' - just didn't really know what to do with it??
fireplace in the corner (can't see it here), the fancy cut out in the wall?? what to do??

(please, take a look through the cut out at the fruit salad wallpaper)

dewallpapered and still awkward??
floors were ripped out at this point because of 'the leak of 2012'

demolition!!
a piece of my favorite wallpaper was hiding behind something all of this time!!
see it?

the awkward room is now part of a beautiful kitchen

I didn't think I could love my carrara island countertop any more - but this backsplash may have stolen some of that love!

now!

I'm cringing - the door...
When we walked in this house the first thing I said was "this door HAS to go"

and it DID!! along with some of the walls

puke colored walls, anyone??

..or is this better??

I had forgotten about these curtains. They came off the walls within hours of us getting the keys. It was a must.

There was the face lift - a quick tour!

Now - we had a project we started last year. Two babies and one renovation later, the project is complete!!
Built ins for the den!

These are a few of my favorite things - and I love having them in the room we spend the most time in.

Drawings from my talented sister. I'd be jealous too... ;)
Cotton, oyster shell and a honey bee.

I do love birds.
Two bird drawings from my sister, a painting from my Grandmother Moses' house, and (sarah margaret!) a clay penguin given to me by my room mate from freshman year!
Also - some old books that are from my Grandparent's house - part of the loot we acquired when they put it on the market. I do love old treasures!

The dog guarding the books is from my Grandmother Moses as well - it was hers when she was a little girl. Their house caught on fire and she had 3 little dogs that survived. It's a special piece!

Sweet baby Hudson, a wooden face from St. Lucia - our honeymoon, and a flower painting by my Grandmother

There is Granny! I love this picture.
They would hunt geo stones, and she collected bells as well. I have a few to remember her by!

And my art gallery :)

An old tree down the street from us - painted in oil by my sister.
It was a surprise gift from her last visit..i LOVE it

happy birthday to me from my sister!
9 water color's of herbs/flowers to hang in my dining room

She gave us this because it reminded her of Savannah

...and this so we could always remember the cold, snowy winters in St. Louis.
A picture from Forest Park

Now that you love them all - go buy some :)

helping the carpenters with the doors

figuring out how to take his shirt off - which makes for a nice addition to his obsession with removing his pants

Eloise's play date with cousin Chloe!

happy birthday to me!
I have always LOVED balloons - but this time it was confiscated by Eloise and Hudson
Emma Kate even had a turn

Enjoying the nice weather
Thanks Bubba, Auntie Ali and Adele, JJ and Uncle Michael for the manly truck

Just look at those curls...I. just. can't. cut. them!!!!
We have been talking about getting him a hair cut since Thanksgiving...
you see how that has gone...

echo, anyone?

This little peanut had a murmur found day of discharge at the hospital. I know this nice Cardiologist, who happens to be her father, that was on call the day it was found ;)
We did a little check up on her - and cousin Lillian and Hudson had a chance to get their hearts checked out, too!
The main event was actually to take a look at Baby Johnson - baby should be here so soon!!! Can't wait :)
