We had a visit from Auntie Courtney and got used to having someone to keep us company during the day time!!!

This little man's parents decided to de-pacifier him. Here is his smiling face greeting us after he survived  the first night. We have made it 2 nights and are surprisingly all still alive...

January in Savannah - todays walk in beautiful sunny warm weather

Earlier this month we took a trip to Atlanta to go to Scotts Antique Show (heeaaveeen - i loved it) Ikea and a few other places (maybe the apple store to fix a brand new ipad that someone's wife dropped and shattered on the driveway while packing the car???). We had a much needed visit with Chetana that ended with a huuuuge box of free donut holes from Dunkin Donuts

I just HAD to have an f.o. from the Varsity - the craving came out of nowhere - so we went and braved the craziness to get a snack!

Can you see it!? The hair flip at the front? So proud...

I bought cheap rugs at Ikea that I wanted to try to paint - of course I didn't make it simple stripes, I wanted a gray chevron! If it wasn't for Patrick, those lines would've been all over the place - but he came to the rescue - pinned and measured away so we could then just tape it and paint.

I haven't taken a picture with all of the tape removed, but you get the idea - and it looks GOOD! It has a home in Hudson's room!

No pictures were taken, but my old roommate and her family came to visit from Charleston - we had so much fun with them!!

I am more than sure I am forgetting a lot that has happened this month...liiike a 3 year wedding anniversary?? Crazy how fast time goes by!

merry christmas???

So maybe it's already January...but Merry Christmas!!!

We spent a few days in Birmingham before Christmas to celebrate and visit with my family - we crammed in a lot of good family and friend time while we were there.

I had to add this.

 If I am not mistaken - this is Princess Callie and her humble servants..?? Thanks to Callie the entertainer, my sister had time to paint me some BEAUTIFUL pictures for our house :) 

She spoils us.

We had to wake up our sleeping baby on Christmas morning - he is just so sweet - always waking up with a big smile!

And then we were off to the Broderick's to celebrate with the rest of our family! 

(apparently we have no pictures of it...this isn't even from Christmas day... we will just pretend)

Eloise loves her baby brother.

And Hudson has been busy rolling all over the place - and eating some delicious baby food

When I called today I said "happy birthday!!!" his reply : "happy birthday!" hahaha. So I said, "Happy Birthday to YOU" - and he said "oh"
so silly.

keeping busy...

This morning I was talking to my dad and told him I had made a Christmas outfit for Hudson - "from scratch"...blah blah...and he said something to the effect of how I have been cranking out projects... I said that's what happens when you feel stir crazy in a house!!

Here are my trees - I made them for six measly dollars!

Christmas came to our house all the way from St Louis...thanks Angela!! I will have some pics of H in his hat very soon!!!

Upholstering a foot stool/ottoman from my Grandaddy's house. 

First of all - it is lopsided to start with, yes?? Please say yes....?

Leaning to the right?

(Just talked to my mom - she saw the picture of the lopsided ottoman and said "I am sure it's from 30+ years of Granny propping her feet on it! I like that. And I will keep it's lopsided appearance just how it is!)

Well anyway - minor details.

I bought foam on sale, and glued it on top

cute fabric - it's 'slate' and i loooove the color - with a fun design

While I was cutting the fabric, I was using these big ol' silvery scissors that came in a box full of thread from my Grandparent's house. It was all of Granny's old stuff. Kind of crazy, but every time those scissors cut - the noise made me think of my Granny and Mom sitting on the floor together, cutting out patterns for dresses for my sister and I.  Weird how a certain noise or smell does that, huh?

and yes. its leaning. i know.

It's obviously not perfect. I have things I would do differently next time. BUT - it was my first thing to upholster. I made the cord thingy and figured out that I needed to change the foot on the sewing machine part way through - the zipper foot made the stitch a lot closer/tighter against the rope

this is my next project to upholster - the chair

and H's Christmas outfit! Button holes are in place, with some help I have the truck applique on there...now just need to put the buttons on!!
